We regularly get asked by customers how we differ from a traditional dealer. Autoscout often has good deals and nice cars listed, which get sent to us for our opinion.
In this blog, we're happy to tell you more about how to compare as effectively as possible, and we share tips on what to look out for.
Bought at auction
This car was purchased by the dealer at an ex-lease car auction on April 7, 2026. Our price estimate for this car was €30,300 (20% chance) to €32,500 (60% chance). This amount includes our fee and VAT. The highest bid at this auction, converted to our pricing, was €32,300.The real photos
The photos on Autoscout don't show the original signs of wear that are actually listed in the leasing company's inspection report. Only the flattering photos are shown, and any wear/damage is left out. From experience, we've found that if you ask about this, the answer you get is that you can come see it in person by appointment (in the hope that you won't notice).
The leasing company's inspection report is required to document all signs of wear. If they fail to do so, we're entitled to make a claim. Below are the signs of wear shown in the inspection report:
The hidden costs
Autoscout listings are often advertised with "starting from" prices. This usually means separate delivery packages get charged on top. In the example below, you can see on the dealer's website what extra costs get added. This quickly adds another €900 on top of the initial asking price:
