We are Richard and Martijn. We met at TU Delft and got into entrepreneurship while studying Maritime Engineering. In 2014, we started Swapfiets, the bicycle subscription with the blue front tire. That grew from a small idea in a student dorm into an international company with hundreds of thousands of users.
In 2024, we started Eccasion because we believe that electric driving should be accessible to everyone and the transition to sustainable mobility can be faster!
We build Eccasion step by step, without haste but with a clear goal: to become the place to buy used electric cars. Within 3 months we were already profitable, which gives confidence that we are on the right track to achieve our mission. We don't make empty promises, but prefer to create something that really works - for you and for the future.
At a time when we must pull out all the stops to mitigate accelerating climate change, we cannot afford to wait any longer to make our fleets more sustainable.
Yet there are still many doubts among consumers and even misleading information being spread to maintain the status quo of fuel cars.
This is why we started Eccasion. We want to bring more electric cars to the market faster through our updated form of buying used cars. We do this by making the process easier and fairer. The current system is full of ambiguities and unnecessary costs. As a buyer, you often face a dealer who knows more than you do about the car's history, margins, and why the dealer wants to get rid of the car. That doesn't feel right, and it isn't. We turn this around: with us, you're on the same side of the table. Together, we look for the best car for you, and tell you everything we know, including what we don't.
Used EVs often have an unfairly bad image. We know how reliable they can be, and want to restore trust with our knowledge and radical transparency. No hidden defects, no slick sales pitches. But honest data, personal guidance and a process that is simple and clear. So that you can drive sustainably with confidence.
