The Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4 are popular electric models with a sleek design, many options and a mature driving experience. The ID.3 is more compact and mostly available with the standard battery pack (about 58 kWh), good for a realistic range of about 300-400 kilometers. The ID.4 is a size larger and mostly equipped with the larger battery pack (77 kWh), giving you 400-500 kilometers in practice.

Charging is smooth on both models: standard 3-phase AC charging up to 11 kW, which fills you up in a few hours at home or at a public pole. Fast charging (DC) is possible up to 120 kW for the ID.3 and up to 135 kW for the ID.4, depending on the model, which is ideal for travelling.

In terms of equipment, both models are well equipped. Even the basic version, the 'Life', already has many modern options such as adaptive cruise control, a large infotainment screen and seat heating. The more luxurious "Max" version has just about everything you could want - from a panoramic roof to a heat pump.

Useful to know: the ID.3 has no towing capacity, but some versions do have a support hook for a bike rack or box. The ID.4 is suitable for light trailers, with up to 1,000 kilograms of towing weight.

Occasionally, the sporty ID.5 also comes up for auction, and with some luck we even find an ID.7 abroad.

The Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4 are ideal EVs for those looking for a comfortable, well-equipped and reliable electric car. They combine sleek design with plenty of interior space, smart technology and solid build quality. Our experience shows that the batteries of these models perform very stably especially in the Pro variants. The 1st are also good, although we recommend buying them still within the manufacturer's warranty. An ID.4 with over 100,000 kilometers on the odometer often still shows a State of Health (SoH) of above 95%.
