The Volvo XC40 Recharge entered the market in late 2020 as an electric version of the popular XC40. There are two main versions: the Single Motor (front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive, depending on build year) and the Twin Motor (all-wheel drive). Most models have a 75-79 kWh battery pack (net), good for a realistic range of about 350-420 kilometers, depending on version and driving style.

The XC40 Recharge is built on the CMA platform, originally designed for fuel and plug-in models. Still, it is a mature EV, with great attention to safety, finish and comfort. It comes richly equipped as standard, including adaptive cruise control, seat and steering wheel heating, 360° camera and a sleek Google-based infotainment system.

The XC40 Recharge feels like a real Volvo: safe, solid and comfortable. The Twin Motor is fast and stable, but also consumes a bit more power. The Single Motor version still offers smooth performance with better efficiency, even as a used car.

Pay attention to the year of manufacture and powertrain - since 2023, Single Motor models feature rear-wheel drive and a more efficient engine.
