The BMW i4 has been on the market since the end of 2021 as an all-electric Gran Coupe with sporty driving characteristics. It is based on the CLAR platform, which is also used for gasoline and diesel models such as the BMW 3 and 4 Series, but adapted for electric drive. There are several versions: the i4 eDrive35 (net 66 kWh), eDrive40 (net 81 kWh) and the powerful M50 (dual motor, also with 81 kWh). The eDrive40 achieves about 450-500 kilometers of range in practice; the M50 slightly less due to higher consumption.

The i4 combines the classic BMW feel - direct steering, rear-wheel drive, balanced suspension - with modern EV technology. In terms of equipment, most models feature rich features such as adaptive cruise control, heated seats, head-up display and a curved infotainment screen.

As a used car, the BMW i4 remains one of the most dynamic EVs in its class. The eDrive40 in particular offers a nice balance of range, performance and comfort. The M50 is blazing fast, but less efficient. Compared to, say, a Tesla Model 3, the i4 is slightly heavier and less minimalist, but feels more luxurious and refined.
