The Hyundai Kona Electric has been on the market since 2018 and was one of the first compact SUVs with ample range. There are two battery packs: 39 kWh (net 36 kWh) and 64 kWh (net 64 kWh). The Long Range variant with 64 kWh is by far the most popular, offering a realistic range of about 370-420 kilometers. Both versions have front-wheel drive and an efficient powertrain.
In terms of charging, the Kona supports AC charging up to 11 kW (from model year 2020) and DC charging up to 77 kW. Equipment is often complete, with things like adaptive cruise control, seat and steering wheel heating, infotainment with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
Even as a used car, the Kona Electric is one of the most efficient EVs in its class - fuel-efficient and surprisingly spacious for its size. It drives comfortably, is quiet and reliable, and its large battery pack makes it suitable for longer trips as well. Note that older models (before 2020) sometimes still charge with 1-phase and have less extensive safety options. From our experience, battery degradation is surprisingly good, with a car with 71,000 kilometers still having about a 98% SoH.
At Eccasion, we always check the battery status and charging system so you know exactly what you're buying. Looking for a compact, efficient and low-maintenance electric SUV? Then the Kona Electric is a smart choice.
